Bringing together artists, youth workers, and educators from Ukraine, Georgia, Germany, Spain and across Europe to create innovative educational initiatives
Artivism in youth work and civic education is the main focus of the project.
Artivism is the combination of art and activism. Artivists use art to raise awareness of important issues, highlight systemic flaws, and demand change. We aim to use artivism as a powerful tool to foster active citizenship and promote democratic values among young people.
Contemporary art, including underground movements and street art, serves as a tool for social inclusion and self-expression. We use art to give young people the opportunity to be heard, both literally and metaphorically.
We invite everyone to take a look at civic education from a new perspective, using art as a platform to amplify the voices of young people.
The project is being implemented by an international consortium, which includes:

CivicArt Alliance
An international network connecting professionals
The project fosters connections among partners in non-formal youth education, facilitates interdisciplinary learning and cooperation.
Youth NGOs from Ukraine and Georgia, supported by their colleagues from Germany and Spain, will be empowered to design and implement art-based civic education activities post-training, enhancing their ability to manage resources effectively and instill principles of active citizenship and democracy among youth.
The project elevates the recognition of non-formal education initiatives, encouraging the replication of effective practices in citizenship education across different regions.
In Ukraine and Georgia, the project contributes to enhancing youth engagement in local issues. The project strengthens community cohesion and social inclusion through cultivating critical thinking and empathy, promoting cultural diversity and understanding, which are core topics of civic education itself.
The project’s outcomes catalyze local and regional development through the enhanced capacity of participants and organizations, fostering innovative approaches and strategiс communications at grassroots levels. Expanding project activities to local communities will provide opportunities for community members to participate and contribute to address local challenges and drive sustainable development.
The project further develops ideas of European Youth Goals and EU Youth Dialogue by engaging youth workers from Georgia and Ukraine with the European dimension of democracy and artivism. On a larger scale, the project significantly contributes to the ‘Engage-Connect-Empower’ priorities of the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 by fostering meaningful civic, social, and cultural participation of young people.
The project also contributes to the European Youth Work Agenda by prioritizing quality, innovation, recognition, competence development, and social inclusion in its initiatives. It promotes excellence in youth work practice, fosters creativity and experimentation, advocates for the recognition of youth work’s impact, and builds capacities of youth workers.
The project fosters inclusiveness and solidarity by the topic of civic education by itself, as well as by engaging participants from diverse backgrounds and cultures, ensuring that everyone has a voice and opportunity to participate in collaborative activities. Moreover, the project encourages dialogue and cooperation between relevant stakeholders from different fields and countries, promoting mutual understanding and effective partnerships for positive change.
The project impacts a broader community of stakeholders in upscaling existing practices with the use of digital means and expands its outreach beyond the immediate partnership. Through collaborative efforts and international partnerships facilitated by project activities, organizations will expand their influence and impact, promoting high-quality civic education initiatives for young people on an international scale.
