As part of the CivicArt project, a stop-motion animation workshop brought participants together to explore the theme of togetherness through the art of frame-by-frame filmmaking. The workshop was led by CivicArt participant Kateryna Magdenko, who guided the group through the entire creative process — from first idea to finished animated film.
The workshop took place across two sessions. During the online meeting, participants explored different stop-motion techniques, studied examples of animation, and began developing their own stories and scripts. The in-person session brought those ideas to life: participants created characters and sets, photographed frames step by step, edited their footage, and watched ordinary objects transform into short animated films.
The theme of togetherness carries particular meaning for the community behind this initiative — both as a reflection of shared identity and as a response to the times that bring people together in the face of hardship. Approaching it through creative practice gave participants a new way to explore and express what it means to belong.

How can you feel the rhythm of a city and turn it into art? That’s the question UNMUTE set out to answer during two days
